In memory of Lorenzo Patrick Jr.February 8th 2014 Lorenzo Guy Patrick Jr. aka Kwabena Shango left his suffering and spread his light across the universe.<br />
<br />
My big brother died. <br />
<br />
After half a decade he succumbed to ALS.<br />
<br />
At his funeral I wanted to speak but I could not. Even now I know I have not resolved the loss. I had time and preparation but no realization of what this would feel like. I told myself I would post a blog to his memory and say the things i wanted needed desired to say but was unable. And show how he was an inspiration in my life and in my art. <br />
<br />
His spirit struck me this week as I was going through life shit and he said,<br />
<br />
"Stop Bitchin' and just do it!"<br />
<br />
I heard his voice clearly. The advice related to something else but also it was always his general response to my self-doubt and procrastination.<br />
<br />
Thank you Lo. This is what you meant to me....<br />
<br />
Sooooooo.......<br />
<br />
I wrote this over a year ago and never published it. Been through a gang of of ish since then but I'm trying to get back to me so I'll begin my revisiting ti this blog with this old entry. Also I must add I lost my father this year as well as getting remarried. So alot. I want to get lost in creating and writing and my family. Wish me luck and look for content soon. Because life in my forties is something else...<br />

<strong>LOGOS</strong></div>
<br />
<div align="justify">
On a personal level this is the process of individuation. But what shall we make of our collective efforts at differentiation? What are the consequences of our collective struggle? Carl Jung says:</div>
<blockquote>
<div align="justify">
“The paternal principle, the Logos,… eternally struggles to extricate itself from the primal warmth and primal darkness of the maternal womb; in a word, from unconsciousness.” (ibid)</div>
</blockquote>
<div align="justify">
Jung associates the paternal principle with Logos, and Logos with ‘divine curiosity.’ This divine curiosity seeks the evolution of consciousness, bringing forth the potential and possibility of human awareness. Jung says,</div>
<blockquote>
<div align="justify">
“Divine curiosity yearns to be born and does not shrink from conflict, suffering, or sin.” (ibid)</div>

I am not trying to turn this into a pretentious artist's guide to simplified Jungian ideology. What is happening is discovery of meaning in response to experienced phenomena. (Okay maybe a little pretentious...) In all honesty I have intentions when these images are drawn but deeper understanding occurs in reflection. My desire for a healthy anima demanded a strong sense of self. During the time of my separation and divorce I crawled into a cave(as I am want to do) and addressed the basic necessities to maintain or reconstruct my sanity. </div>

<br />
<br />
<strong><u>Individuation </u></strong>is a process of transformation whereby the personal and collective unconscious are brought into consciousness (e.g., by means of dreams, active imagination, or free association) to be assimilated into the whole personality. It is a completely natural process necessary for the integration of the psyche. Individuation has a holistic healing effect on the person, both mentally and physically<br />

After reading <em>Possessing the Secret of Joy</em> by Alice Walker he became even more important to my journey. Symbols become bookmarks from larger more important ideas. A way to represent them without making there mysteries too concrete or literal. That is why I make sequential art. To get healthy and maintain the mystery. <br />

<strong><em><span style="color: #ff8000; font-family: Arial; font-size: x-large;">H</span></em></strong><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;"><i>od</i> is the eighth of the ten <i>sefirot,</i> and the fifth of the emotive attributes within Creation.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong>H</strong><i>od </i>is associated in the soul with the power to continually advance, with the determination and perseverance born of deep inner commitment, toward the realization of one's life goals. The acknowledgment of a supreme <nobr><a class="FAtxtL" href="http://www.inner.org/sefirot/sefhod.htm#" id="FALINK_3_0_2">purpose</a></nobr> in life, and the total submission of self which it inspires, serve to endow the source of one's inspiration with an aura of splendor and majesty. Striding through a world of panels; jumping in and out of boxes, on the carnal Altar I discovered the power within. When there is nothing else to fill you appetites you find the vast potential of NO-thing. Past drunken Bacchanalia and misty smoke outs there occurred an awakening. Out of the Abyss. This page creating it, reflecting on it, and the time it represents was an exercise in ego destruction. Every acceptance of change in life is about destroying who you were to accept who you are as circumstances and intention demands. Rough collage is represented by the badly photographed and copied paintings down the center tier of the page. Large paintings (4'x2') I made while in the relationship relating to the object of my love, the maturation of passion from lust to love, and the acceptance of death/change. </div>

Hilarious and touching stuff. I had no interest in Neil Gaiman though I quickly became a fan. Luckily a gaming buddy of mine Eric, had all the trades in his collection and I caught up. Now my Vertigo title was the Invisibles and I was deep into that journey, but Sandman mixed all the magical story sources I enjoyed. I was in. I was affected by its ending and never found another Gaiman joint that held my attention like he did on Sandman. Imagine my excitement when it was announced that Gaiman was returning to Dream and the art was being helmed by one of my favorite current comic artists, J H Williams III. I missed the first issue when it came out two weeks ago. So I held my reviews until I read it. I am also finishing up a big move, so time has been a tight commodity. Anyway I finally got it so let the show go on...<br />

<div align="center">
Enh...not so much.</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
First of all, Olivier Coipel cover Noice! Still I feel tricked by the cover. I thought there would be more pin-ups and original vignettes connected to current continuity. Instead I got five stories giving some insights into past events from X-men mythos. Nice to see some creators I have admired through the years I did notice how profound storytelling styles change. Claremont still writes ALOT of narration and could not survive without thought bubbles. Stan Lee well is Stan Lee and scripts like everything is a commercial...in a good way and nothing beats a bunch of pages from the master Walt Simonson. The Banshee/Sunfire tour of Memphis was hokey. The Wolverine doing Batman and breaking down his crew was a little brutal, and the Magneto prelude to Onslaught dream sequence took me back to a time when X-men was getting to big and aimless. I the end I felt a little cheated. While I got a sense of how much many of these characters have changed I wasn't wowed. The snippets of scenes from current X-titles pissed me off 'cause I had all the books they came from. Still that Coipel cover.<br />
<br />
10. X-Men Battle of the Atom 002<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
awwww BOoooo!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Bendis nooooo. He let me down at the end... again. Ya'll know Age of Ultron ended flat. I think the pace of this story was too fast for the number of chapters. The last couple chapters where fight fillers with little plot progression. And more Time problems. I see another Time event coming up for MArvel after this Cosmic stuff runs through. Mark my words. I guess events are now continual bridges to each other with little story resolution but lots of change and occurrences. Two different artist obviously rushed and very different visually for the artist credited on the cover. Too jarring with indistinct detail. I did enjoy the epilogues. I'm still down for some of the individual titles and the event did its job of making me take a second look at titles I dropped so that's a success. Just didn't feel the pay-off.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
9. Infinity. Part Five of Six.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div align="center" style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hm. Ain't that something!?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
You know that pay off I was missing in X-men BOTA was present in this that I have been panning. My bad. While I think every comes together fast in comparison to the build p, but that's Hickman's structure. The aftermath of victory really grabbed me. The Avengers are bad muthas throughout galaxies. Mad respect. More than Earth's Mightiest Heroes, they are Galactic! But still there is a bridge. Thanos insinuating himself in the narrative of Infinity comes to the fore by entering the MAde Men of MArvel's(trademark pending) hidden citadel, the Necropolis and prepares to take advantage of their technology. And Thane is introduced. I won't pick up Six but did enjoy this issue.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
8. Ultimate Comics Cataclysm 0.1 </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ohh you got me!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I thought this was the beginning of the event. It was not. It was the prelude to the event. I enjoyed it. I'm taking peeks into the Ultimate Comics world and like this Fialkov guy. I liked the Ultimate version of the Vision and found its relationship to Falcon interesting. The comparison between 616 and Ultimate reality was clever. I may follow this event at BAM. These events are getting expensive. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
7. World's Finest #17</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Why can't I quite you?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Sorry Sigler I still dig Levitz. The current artist has gotten the feel of the characters while still having a very energetic style. This may come from the breakdowns by industry mainstay Scott Mcdaniels. RB Silva brings energy to very well designed and dynamic layouts. I like Helena and Kara and want to see how they fare in the face of what's happening in Earth 2. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
6. Avengers #22. Infinity tie-in.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div align="center" style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Eating crow!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Great issue. Down for this coming home from war narrative. Helped me understand Hickman treating this book like a military operation. These are soldiers. They are on a high. Nice veteran rookie moment between Eden and CAP/Capt Marvel/Thor. Classic. Stills feels rather matter of fact in execution. It has delivered. Its an Avengers World.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
5. Amazing X-Men 001.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I mean- its Nightcrawler. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I wasn't reading X-men titles when Kurt Wagner died so I never got the chance to miss him. He has always been one of my favorite X-men and a great voice in the throng that is X-men. Doesn't look like they are over thinking his return just making it happen. Nice action by Mcguinness, but do we need another X-title to re-introduce Nightcrawler? I admit I really enjoyed this issue but my budget is being stretched. Oh and the reappearance of Firestar, right when Iceman gets single. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
4. Mighty Avengers 003. Infinity tie-in.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
More crow. Yum.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This was a good issue. The characters had a chemistry together and the execution of more fantastic scenes took the focus off of Lands figure drawing and more towards his overall layout and panel progression. Our maybe I just liked they way he did Adam the Blue Marvel. I felt like I was seeing Icon. sniff. Still don't like his Spectrum but the actions panels in this issue were dynamic. Luke's speech was a bit ham-fisted but consistent. Some times its good not being a snob. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3. Earth 2. #17.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Still interested....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
James Robinson left, abruptly. He was building to some interesting stuff. His final issues was game changing to say the least. Tom Taylor picks up the ball with out missing a beat. His dialogue read a little less stiff than Robinsons. I liked that. Not excited about Earth 2 Batman but Tornado is a cool concept. Lets see where this continues to. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2. Sandman Overture 1.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I held up my reviews to get this book. I was looking forward to it. Anytime Gaiman does something with his Sandman mythos its like a special meal. I have to enjoy the parts and the whole and sitback and ruminate on all the courses. I'm just down for this book. JH Williams does incredible art and shines in magical landscapes. Promethea is an unparalleled reading experience and look forward to what he does in Dream's world. Nice to hear Gaiman's voice again. Though I'm sensing a little stiffness but it dances. I'm sure he's just warming up. And now the second issue has been delayed. Damn. I'll wait though...I'll wait. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1. All New X-men 018.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My man-crush on this creative team is getting embarrassing...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
These are people Kitty has know her whole life. Her easy compliment to Scott was surprising welcome in the midst of all this mutant strife. Her moments with Illyana were promising in the shadow of all that's been going on since Schism. Iceman(boy) sets some stuff off his chest...kinda. Jean Grey continues to be the coolest. Like beyond Gidget. Henry McCoy remains a layered character with interesting insights. Slim is introverted but dedicated to getting better in the midst of an uncomfortable time. New costumes and the return of a story device that I thought Bednis used very successfully at the beginning of the BAttle of the Atom. Makes me wish he could do that with Xavier back in the day. All the interior monologues he may not have been able to block out and the insights that were forced on him. These guys do great superhero soap opera comics. </div>

Stalling for time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
After watching a film that was generally panned and really enjoying, I've been thinking about not giving things a chance. I was mostly unhappy with the New 52, being a longtime fan of DC and its ever evolving Continuity. <em> </em>I was lost in a whirlwind of transformed concepts and discontinued storylines. I didn't give the world a chance. At BAM I found myself catching up on the Wonder Woman series and being completely engaged. Read a couple of the Deathstroke issues and dug the energy and the art. I have even admitted to enjoying a couple of the Villains' month book. I couldn't follow the Justice League relaunch. I think I just lost interest until Ivan Reis became penciler. So when Justice League of America came out I wanted to give it a chance. Started pretty good but it was deranged by the Trinity War. As if the story pace was sped up to meet with the Forever Evil upcoming event. When they shot Catwoman in the head I was skeptical. With the Trinity War my love of superhero teams clashing with big pages and lots of folks caught me. Picked up this issue to get a fix on what was going on with the Forever Evil event. I was a little disappointed. Nice character piece and the focus in J'onn made it interesting but really nothing happened. The hero trapped in his own hell becomes a bit overused but ,ore was learned from who was absence than who were present. The issue seemed to be dependent on holding back on information that plays out somewhere else. Art was nice but it lost my attention. Maybe I should be reading the main event title. By the way the film was After Earth...but that's another discussion in another medium.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
5. Worlds' Finest #16</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Of great beginnings.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Another DC book. Signs of the Armageddon! Really I began getting this book because of the original creative team... and Power Girl. Paul Levitz writing (quiet Sigler!), George Perez & Kevin Maguire sharing art chores, and Power Girl sharing the stage with her Earth2 BFF Huntress. It started interesting, but very soon Perez leaves(following his departure from Action Comics) and Maguire follows soon after. I couldn't get into the art at the time and felt like another delay tactic was going on with respect to unveiling Earth 2 and how this book would connect back to it. I came back because I liked the art in this issue. The artist, R.B. Silva, has gotten comfortable with the principle characters and become a lot more consistent. I felt a little out the loop having skipped a few issues but I open to see(even with the departure of J Robinson from Earth 2) where this is going. Looks like all this Apokolips stuff is coming to a head. Levitz still writes well and I have come to like Helena and Kara.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
4. Avengers #21. Infinity tie-in.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Deus Ex Machina.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div align="left" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Yeah I know I said I was gonna leave it alone but I am a nerd and part of my nerdiness is a obsession with completion. So I felt a bad (kinda) for avoiding issue 3 & 4 of the Infinity event. I enjoyed it. It was more of that unveiling of the significance of earlier elements. I knew Captain universe was the lynchpin. Liked the way Abyss worked with the others to awaken her. But it felt predictable. And now the Zombie switch has been turned on for the surviving Builders. Liked the visuals though I had to reread the Supremor's scene to realize part of it was flashback. It wasn't visually clear what was happening now and what was recap. Still a good issue but I've become more and more interested in what happens after with Thanos. And where are the Celestials!?</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3. Uncanny Avengers #13 </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Momma is there a Heaven for Mutants?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I realize that I like Rick Remender's writing... I just wasn't crazy about his choice of characters in this series. Wasp seemed a little "fast" and Wonderman was soft. Havok was apologetic and Cap was gruff. This issue gave me a nice sense of how there voices have evolved during the series. I have been worried about Scarlet Witch since Byrne twisted her up in Avengers West Coast and Bendis ripped her a new one in Avengers and Civil War. I liked how Havok and Wasp worked together once I got over the flirting. I loved Cap not being able to hear Havok but coming up with the same realizations. a show of respect for Havok as a leader. The final moments with Simon and Wanda clenched it for me. I have been a Wonder Man fan since the Green costume and always lit a candle for him and Wanda. She made an heroic choice. Made me believe in her as a hero... a redemptive moment. Doesn't sound like the best plan but the intentions are better than anything I've seen in Wanda in awhile. Acuna does a beautiful job telling this dark tale and his rendition of Simon and Wanda;s happy moments together reminded me of Neo and Trinity's love scene in Matrix 2. Yeah between this and Captain America, I like Remender's writing. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2. Astro City #5</div>
<div align="center" style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Nice.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was a little worried with the beginning of this series, but I shouldn't have. I like the territory that Kurt Busiek is mining for this Arc. Went back and read the Second Absolute Planetary book because of it. A little Lovecraft, a little Burroughs, a little pulp-tech heroics. All framed by a post-modern narrator. And I like Mister Cakewalk. I was worried at first but Busiek executes a sensitive character with Brent Anderson representing him without embarrassing caricature. Also worth mentioning is Andersons subtle use of different drawing styles for the different stories. I'll be staying with Astro City. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1. Justice League #24 Forever Evil tie-in</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div align="center" style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Johns & Reis go great together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Sinestro Corps. One of the best events from the last ten years! There I said it. And these boys did that story up. Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis. I got on Trinity War because Ivan was working on it. Very wordy and very visually stunning. I saw the preview of this issue on Comicbookresources.com and had to pick this issue up. Ultraman's origin is told and the character is strong. His treatment of Jimmy Olsen was illuminating. This book also echoed Apokolips and Boomtubes. Can't wait until Darkseid comes back. I thought Shazam busted up Black Adam, but I loved the way he appeared. Now we get a chance to see what Ultraman can do when he lets loose. May not get too many of the Forever Evil books but I will not miss another issue of Justice League while Johns and Reis are on it. </div>

Comics I read this week 10/25/2013<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>Okay so I
know the artist that drew this comic.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Shawn Crystal was in the Sequential Art MFA program at SCAD Savannah
with me, and is currently a Professor of SA at SCAD ATL. Good memories.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Good artist.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>That said I have to admit Fantomex is one of my least favorite Grant
Morrison creations.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I also have not followed
his activities in the Marvel world up until his current antics in Uncanny
X-Force, I like the movement of his characters in this but the use of zip tones
distracts from the art.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And the women
are drawn very gratuitously… but it is a MAX book.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The story didn’t hold me.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Lot of unnecessary cursing and EVA is out of
control.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’m lost with what is going on
as there is really no setup for the violence that occurs by Agent Fleming’s
fellow agents.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’ll check out issue two
at BAM but, it is nice to see folks from SCAD making good.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>

<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: center;">
But… what about
Battle of the Atom?</div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: center;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>Hurm.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’m not following this Superior Spiderman
story and am pissed at how nobody is realing how much of a dick Spidey is being
and not calling him on it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I think this
story came out a little too early but I hope it leads to Petey coming back.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Otherwise the writer gave young Hank a nice
voice.I won’t be getting the rest of this story.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Not my cup of tea.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>So the true
colors came out in part 7 and everybody’s scrapping.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Visually this was a confusing issue.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This might be attributed to the five
different inkers working on Bachalo’s pencils which lacked the interesting layouts
he normally has.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Looked rushed. Seemed
to be battle filler My least favorite issue of the event so far.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Ready to get to the end.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Man time is really effed up in the Marvel
U.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Interesting.</div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>Nice
issue.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Wolverine gets gutted by another
crazy product of his loins(and mystique eveidently.) <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>and present time Xmen keep getting hurt and
sitting out of fights for long periods of time(wolverine and Bling for
example.)<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The betrayal goes down and we
start to see this Brotherhood of Mutants from the future’s real side.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Ready for the big brouhaha to come.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Nice art though I hate that Lopez doesn’t
draw faces in his smallest panels.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It is
weird.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Love Shogo.</div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">

3.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>New Avengers #11
Infinity tie-in.</div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: center;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: center;">
So when are these
guys REALLY gonna destroy another Earth.</div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: center;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>Jumped off
the Infinity wagon and missed issues 3 and 4 of the event title.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Still I’m glad this issue connected some of
the stuff the Builders were doing with what the Illuminati are dealing.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Hate to see Wakanda getting attacked…again
but what can you do.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Nice to see Doc
Strange got that thing taken out of his head.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>He’s really been a empty spot in this series.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I don’t think Hickman knows what to do with
him.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am digging Thanos in this story
arc though.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He finds the fellas
clubhouse and some of their toys and is impressed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Scary.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Striking resolution to the Illuminati’s problem is offered by the other-dimensional
Builders.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I hope after this Infinity
thing we can start seeing what the boys can to do be heroes and get to the
bottom of this problem instead of just reacting to its symptoms.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Nice art by Deodato. </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
2.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Ultimate Comics
The Ultimates #30 Disassembled tie-in</div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: center;">
More artist stalking.</div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: center;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>One of my
favorite reads from Matt Fraction’s run on Iron man was the Annual featuring
the Mandarin.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I even reviewed it a
couple years back.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The artist on that
issue was Carmine Di Giandomenico and I fell in love with his art.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>His style is very angular and detailed and
fluid.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The Ultimate world is falling
apart and the Ultimates are a mess.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I
left following the Ultimate Universe after the terrible Ultimatum event.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I got this for the artist and was
intrigued.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’ll have to go back and get
some of the Ultimates in trade.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Everything is different and all the “good guys” are fighting each
other.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And more of the time problems pop
up here. Hmmmmm.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And the infinity gems
of this reality are destroyed. Hmmmm.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>And Galactus is coming.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>While I
had no idea how any of the characters got here I enjoyed it thoroughly, even in
my confusion. Strong fun moments: Thor getting Mjolnir and his harness back. Hercules
and Frank Castle facing thousands of evil Herbietrons. And the one word form
the other end of Space a single message is sent.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Hunger.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>A lot of different stuff happened in the Ultimate Universe and I’m
curious.</div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
1.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Captain America
#12 </div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: center;">
Our Boys! Our Boys!!</div>
<br />
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: center;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span></b>Born Again.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Miller and Mazzuchelli’s beautiful and
redemptive Daredevil story has a special place in my heart.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One character I loved from the end of the arc
was Nuke.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The crazed Super Soldier that
just needed a Red to get at his enemies.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Carlos Pacheco with the powerful inks of Klaus Janson delivers a nice
rendition of the confused Super- Soldier, Pacheco has been real sparse with his
pencils lately so Janson gives him a lot more shape and texture.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Because of the previous story arc Cap is
again a man out of time.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Very interested
in where Remender takes this. Always nice to see the Falcon Cap friendship.</div>

It’s like they let loose a Virus.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Like a strain of that virus that first ran
through the X-men around the mid-nineties, spreading the concept beyond the
limitations of one or two monthly titles.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The Avengers have really caught on!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>I blame Brian Bendis, or maybe the editor, Tom Brevoort is the
culprit.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Since Bendis’ departure from

First of all the title logo for this book is smaller and
less obtrusive (lower right hand corner?) than the tie-in banner, with three
different font types in the design.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Second,
with all due respect to the artist’s comicography, I am not a fan of Greg
Land.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And finally, a Luke Cage book and
we don’t even get a cameo of the most important things in his life: his family?</div>
<div align="left">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>This book
seems real loose and not a marketing priority or even structured focus.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have never been much of a Spiderman fan so
his presence (especially in his current manifestation) isn’t a draw.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Powerman’s (the younger) angst seems phoned
in and absurd next to Powerman (the elder) who defined the model.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Proxima Midnight dives in to give the team a
catalyst</div>

work seems so much stiffer in superhero books.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>And why can’t he draw Capt Marvel--- ( what? oh) Photon---(hunh? oh)
Monica Ramb—(aw shit) SPECTRUM’s legs?!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">

<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>Final issue
for James Robinson.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Final issue for me.
The New 52 was a shock that became more difficult with time.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>My decades of DC lore was being upended and
twisted(again) in the search for a strong market. A younger wider market.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I was blaise about the whole experience.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The series of events that led up to the
Flashpoint story,<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>completely confused
and lost me.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The titles I collected
(Batman Inc., Green Lantern, and Batwoman) seemed to be losing their steam. I
picked up this book hoping to see some of my favorite heroes of the JSA
recreated by a writer who so beautifully interpreted them in the Golden Age
Elseworld miniseries from maybe too long ago. His JLA run didn’t grab me but,
you know, I’m “open.”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
At its best I found Earth 2 entertaining but very
surface.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It seemed to try very hard to
make this Earth 2 diverse and different from any expectations.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I even enjoyed the World’s Finest book that
was a distant cousin to Earth 2 since it starred two refugees from Earth
2.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I was interested to see the story
play out.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Then I heard Robinson was
leaving.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I found a comic podcast where
they often interviewed Robinson and his plans for the world were interesting and
he seemed to have a lot of room to create.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Then I heard he was leaving.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>This issue
seemed to be a big fight scene stretched out and the reveal of who one of
Steppenwolf’s Hungerdogs was did surprise me but…<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Like the abrupt departure of the creative
team from Batwoman, I cannot think the direction of the narrative will hold its
course.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So since I was mildly into this
book I’m letting it go.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Damn DC. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>On a DC
sidenote I did read a couple of the villain books at BAM this weekend.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’ll admit I really enjoyed Darkseid and
Relic.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The art in both were nice and I
liked both of their origins.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Good
stories.</div>

Feels like I get this title every week.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I feel like a trick.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And I don’t really like it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I didn’t pick up Infinity #3 so I’m missing a
bit but…<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’m just not into it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I feel like I’m missing some jumps in logic
in the story.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I haven’t connected to the
bad guys.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I think Yu’s work is really
beautiful here though I still have issues with his storytelling. </div>

<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>I jump on

up an issue according to who’s drawing it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>I enjoyed
this issue.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’m really out of the loop
when it comes to all things Apocalypse.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>I left the X-men during the Age of Apocalypse and had been disheartened
to look back at them until Grant Morrison’s run on New X-men then Mark Millar’s
launching of the Ultimate X-men and Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-men and
currently Bendis.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So I’m just catching
up on Rick Remender’s run on X-Force that seems to inform a lot on this
title.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">

dark as when Osborne was in charge and I’m enjoying it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I enjoyed the visuals.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Salvador Larocca has a nice take on the
characters in this story.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Not too

book is not a tie-in?</strong></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>I picked
this book up to see if it would fill in some gaps, look at the art, and get a
since of what may be the tone for the movie coming later.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>Thanos (as
drawn by Olivier Coipel) has an illuminating conversation with Peter
Quill.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Whose voice reassured me my boy
from Parks & Recs. is perfectly cast.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>And he tightened up for the role.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>I also really enjoyed Sara Pichelli’s pages.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The fight scenes were sharp with nice camera
work.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>Angela
means little to me but I love how Pichelli draws the watcher.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>There is a desperate and nervous sadness to
her Uatuu.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I may not collect this
monthly but I will pick up the Kevin Maguire issue coming up.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>His art is perfect for the tone of this book.

<strong>I’m just a mitch for

<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>I missed
the Wolverine and the X-men issue before I read this issue but I still enjoyed
it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The fanboy in me was mad they didn’t
give all of this future group of X-men’s names but was more satisfied by
Immonen’s rendition of the X-future.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Really this event’s power is in its simplicity and pace.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The only reason this isn’t number one on my
list is because it doesn’t have a lot of layers.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We are just finishing up introducing all the
players in the drama.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And everybody

on of my art teachers) and the storytelling was off for Frank Quitely.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This issue was much better and brutal.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Mark Millar writes for shock and awe and
Quitely delivers visually.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’m

So a story can be incredibly personal without giving the real names of anyone involved. You can take jabs at a person from your past who broke your heart are secretly thank an old flame for changing your life for the better without ever leaving yourself vulnerable. That's what made me appreciate story. Lyonmane is the unrestrained libido. His passion is his greatest distraction. He is the Hunter.<br />

My Beloved DC. What is wrong with us. Out of the seven books I read only two came from DC. One of those being a Vertigo imprint title that got grandfathered in under Wildstorm... so I don't completely count that. More nostalgia than any sense of loyalty, I have been a consumer of the DC Universe perhaps a moment before I discovered Marvel. Like I discovered the Justice League of America before the Avengers. The New Teen Titans was my team before I even cared about an Xmen. The only oddity is Byrne's Fantastic Four. It stands in a place all its own. Point being I know more about and care more about DC lore than almost any other pop culture... "thing!" So I wanna kinda sorta be down with this 52 thing. I have even found a gem or two as I've stated before, but my hold box and take home tell the tale. </div>
<div align="left">
Me and Mrs. Marvel got a thang going on. </div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
Two sets of event tie-ins, Cap impulse buy, Astro via Vertigo, and a LSH book picked because of the artist & yeah, nostalgia. </div>

Still not feelin' it.</div>

</div>
<div align="left">
I never want to be that cat that continuously hates on a book. Still I realize more than the Event I do not enjoy this title. Yu's art is not my favorite. Lot of beautiful poses but no acting. Understanding the storyline better but it seems to add cosmic problem to cosmic problem. And it grows at that Hickman pace that loses me right around now.... I do know I have missed stuff in this story arc by not paying close attention to the plot but it seems like everything that happened before this in the story was a device to get us to this story. I like the New Universe stuff but... am... nodding.... offffffzzzzzzzz. I do feel like I would gain some info by reading Guardians of the Galaxy.Hmmmm.</div>

<div align="left" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Carlos Pacheco. I been digging his work since he was doing a Marvel UK gig around the same time Bryan Hitch was coming out the box. Both reminded me of Alan Davis with a different dynamism to them. After Avengers Forever and The JLA/JSA Virtue & Vice Hardcover I was hooked. He has moved from his old inker Jesus Merino and lost some texture and detail but his layouts are strong and his anatomy is always interesting. I liked his Schism work and pick him up when I can. Wasn't real interested in Cap's current adventures but, you know, the trades say great jumpin' on point so...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Enjoyed it. I like how Rick Remender writes and think I may follow this story arc. Pacheco is inked by a legend, Klaus Janson, who is great at giving emotion to figure. For me he made the old Frank Miller Daredevil stuff, not to mention the Dark Knight Returns. Can't believe Cap burned all his stuff, but a nice statement.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
5. Astro City #4</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Its all about perspective.</div>
<div align="left" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I am a fan. I mean quiet as its kept probably even a fanboy for certain comics. Astro City is one of them. I'mm glad its back and find Kurt Busiek an insightful writer. This take on the multiverse of comics is always layered and thoughtful. Brent Andersons pencils seem to have gotten looser and his inks have gotten darker and harsher. His emotion and storytelling is still spot on. A story told from the point of view of those with power who choose not to wear gaudy costumes and patrol the streets. These Powers use their powers in their everyday life. And they look out for each other. Always great to see the fall of a villain destined for small things. Another tour through Astro City is worth the trip. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
4. Legion of Super-heroes #23</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the END beautiful friend or Artist stalker, part two.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I like Paul Levitz on Legion. I jumped in and out of this cause it seemed to lack cohesion. Something the LSH has been cursed with since Crisis on Infinite Earth. Repeated approaches and iterations of the Legion have plagued the last twenty or so years of its contemporary existence. Some great creators some great stories. Seems once again DC throws in the towel and puts the title back on ice. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So I got it for that and I got it for Kevin Maguire on pencils. Love his work and was excitedly looking forward to JLA 3000. Then DC flipped again and fired him. I read this was one of the gigs he was doing at the end. Visually this book is a beautiful farewell. Not knowing the plot points I was just excited to see old friends say goodbye...again. Pure nostalgia. Though it makes it harder to get a series when all you have is memories of great things. Long Live the Legion!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3. New Avengers #10. Infinity tie-in.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another pause in the rising action...</div>
<div align="left" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I will say it again New Avengers is follows the Made men of Marvel. Another layer to this Infinity event Thanos is coming for his son...his SON! And we got the builders coming, oh yeah and another Earth is hurtling towards our dimensional space...again. Deodato art carries the story and I love the tension and distraction. Don't like how Hank looks and feel like Dr. Strange is being treated like a Mitch but in the end we get back to the "Crisis" at the center of this story. Still like the pacing. Like a slowly bowling unattended kettle. Look forward to when it blows its top. Just hope Hickman doesn't lose me.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2. Uncanny X-men #12. Battle of the Atom tie-in.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bendis & Bachalo</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I followed him over from the Avengers universe. I even keep getting Avengers mostly because of him. Now I have to say I am again an X-men fan because of Brian Bendis. I have enjoyed this book and the cast of new characters. Bendis teases us with a reminder of the scene that began this event and gives a nice character study of Scott Summers on the sneak. Emma has become Summers best psychoanalyst. A telepath, go figure. Love Bachalo's designs in this issue. A lot of talking turns into a nice education in using figure to great depth of space. Not as crazy about the coloring but for a book filled with talking it moved visually. Magneto makes a speech echoing Storm in X-men #5, while I am still waiting for the reveal that will turn this story on its side(keep following Illyana I'd guess) and move into high gear. Looking forward to the upcoming conflict from Scott's exes. </div>
<div align="center">

1. X-men #5. Battle of the Atom tie-in</div>
<div align="center">
I try to get out but you pull me right back in!</div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div align="left">
I have to admit I only started collecting this series because Olivier Coipel (Artist Stalkin' part three) was the artist on the first story arc. Enjoyed it but my pockets forced me to make a choice on these X-family books and this book was a casualty. Because of the Event I picked up this book and got a treat! Woods take on this team's principle personae shined in spite of the guests of the event. I realized how much I missed Rachel as a character and the importance of these characters very different and long relationships with each other. I even enjoy Storm's organic community approach to leading. She sets parameters but doesn't lose it when others think and decide for themselves. I like Lopez's art too. The final page as young Scott and Jean pull up to Utopia to see grown Scott's X-men is poster worthy. An visual moment in this time lost teams journey. My favorite colorist is no slouch either. Laura Martin uses coloring and subtle shading to add to the mood of the book. I might have to keep getting this book after the Event is over. </div>
<div align="left">
</div>
<div align="left">
So yeah Marvel is getting my money though I feel like I'm sleep-walking through Infinity. And no Sigler I'm not hatin', I just realized after rereading the first two issues and the tie-ins that I'm not invested in the stakes 'cause they are a little nebulous and all about revelation for revelations sake. But the drive is somewhere off in the distance to be explained if you endure all this other stuff. I never finished Hickman's run on FF but I really liked how it started. Because of that I feel like I'm missing something here. We'll see. </div>

<br />
One of the other inspirations for this story are backyard lizards. I spent afternoons and evenings meditating on my parents back porch. I would watch ants, birds, lizards, and all type of natural phenomena, while contemplating storytelling. One day I watched a small lizard wreak havoc on the small insects skittering across the cement porch. Stalking and gulping done all kinds of little insects. Oddly enough it reminded me of a comic book run. Silver Surfer Vol.3 as drawn by Ron Lim and written by Steve Engelhardt. I remember part of the story arc involved Silver Surfer traveling with a vicious reptilian alien. If memory serves the subtext of the story talked about the oldest part of the brain, the reptilian brain. I gotta find those issues. <br />
The Reptile brain deals with necessity. Survival.<br />
<br />
Lord Lizard is all about survival. <br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>So ever
since this book started I thought, “This is clearly Crisis in Infinite Earths

the almost glacial pace of the book.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Any
book that maintains T’Challa as an O.G. has my attention.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And I’m still waiting for the redemption of
Reed Richards (my boy since Byrne) and Tony Stark for that Civil War
bull-ish!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So I’ve enjoyed this
book.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Then this damned Infinity

ponderous momentum this book was gaining.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>I consider it a device to show how tough the Black Order are.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I’m still down, but this is a misstep in a
nicely growing character study of the MADE MEN of the Marvel Universe.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>

Thinking a lot about layers. Layers of space, layers of perception, and layers of meaning. I have done a lot of editing of my original script. Paring down to necessary text for available space and design.<br />
Lizard, Lyonmane, and Tapestry are brothers who care deeply for each other. For these long lived comrades the expanse of time will test their ties and the Greenheart of Behemoth has sown its poison seed.<br />
But who are these young heroes....<br />

When the idea for this first part of a much larger story was forming I was teaching art at a University. I came into contact with a lot of young men(and women) who had issues with male authority figures as a result of the absence of fathers or strong male figures in their lives. Consequently I thought hard on these young men and their lack of an accessible role model to allow a maturity from adolescence. The absence of Lord Lizards father and the fate of his mother, the leader of the combined clans, is a central aspect of his character arc and the overall story. I think if I painted this page it would have the power I want to express. We'll see.<br />

Every comic story needs a villain. The evil that birthed Behemoth threatens the Realm. I have realized in the years since I first created this image that the tentacles have become a motif in my work initially unintentionally and now purposefully. Wild primordial tangles streams of potential energy creative...and destructive.<br />
